Little did I know that when the power went off in our home last Tuesday night, (1-27) it would be seven days and nights before it was turned back on. Brent and his family were without power for five days and nights. It was quite an experience to say the least. We would like to publicly thank City Water & Light for all the hard work and hours they have put in this past week. It is impressive to think of all they have accomplished in just a week. Again, thanks CW&L!
I have always tried to focus on the positive aspects of every situation. It is amazing to realize how much we have, and how much we take for granted. For instance, flipping a switch and having instant light, heat blowing out of the ceiling in every room, hot water for showering, entertainment through TV, sleeping in a warm bed, pressing a button and having the garage door open for you, not having to worry about waking every two hours to put wood on the fire, warming food quickly in a microwave, and the list goes on. I did enjoy spending time and talking in great lengths with my husband, Bryan. So in this situation, the positives for me are being thankful for all that I have and for the quality time spent with loved ones. In addition, I must add that I am thankful to live in such a fine community such as Jonesboro. Everyone seemed to pull together by helping and cooperating with others, which made this experience much less stressful than it could have been.
Since this is a real estate blog, I would also like to share with everyone about the activity that took place in the Jonesboro market during the after-effects of the ice storm. According to the Jonesboro Multiple Listing Service, real estate activity for the last seven days were as follows:
19 “Closed” transactions
36 “Pending” transactions
(Fred Dacus Assoc. participated in either the listing or selling side of 22 of the 36)
43 “New Listings”
During the last week, Smith & Conkling wrote an accepted offer on a house and showed several homes to buyers. Currently, Smith & Conkling are working on putting two other offers together. So, all was well for Fred Dacus Assoc. and the Smith & Conkling team during and after the ice storm.
